He was born to Gene and Patty Dyrdek on June 28, 1974 in Kettering, Ohio. Growing up, Rob was particularly active in sports and took up skateboarding at the age of 11.

He has an older sister. In 2011, Rob became an ordained minister through the Universal Life Church in order to officiate her wedding.

He amassed this fortune initially in his time as pro skateboarder and later on by working as an actor, producer, entrepreneur and a TV personality.

Dyrdek started riding for DC Shoes not long after relocating to California. DC Shoes sponsored Dyrdek until 2016.

Monster Energy, EA Skate, and Silver Trucks have all sponsored the talented skater. In 2010, Dyrdek established the Street League Skateboarding tournament.
