Michael Gavin Joseph Bisping is an English Sports analyst, actor, commentator, and retired mixed martial arts fighter. He was born on February 28, 1979, in Nicosia, Cyprus.
He competed in the Middleweight and Light Heavyweight division in the UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship).
Bisping became the first British to compete in an UFC Main Event and also the first British to win an UFC Championship. He was inducted in the UFC Hall of Fame on July 5th 2019.
Michael was born in a British military base in Nicosia, Cyprus and grew up in Clitheroe, Lancanshire. He went to Highschool in St. Augustine’s Roman Catholic High School.
At the age of 8 he started his training in jiu jitsu. In 1994, when he was 15 he started competing as an amateur in Britain’s first “No holds barred” competition, this was the precursor of modern MMA.
When he was 18 he decided to abandon martial arts to pursue a more steady job.
Less than a year later he returned training but this time he entered Boxing, Kickboxing and Karate under Allan Clarkin owner of Black Knights Kickboxing.
Michael is married to Rebecca Bisping, the couple have three children and they currently reside in Orange County, California.
